An actor filmed his epic journey to reunite a dog with its owner after he found it running around a motorway.

Can Kabadayi, also known as the self-taught actor Snatchy, was on his way to a film set when got stuck in traffic on the A40 in London.

The 25-year-old, from Hackney, said: "As I was going I saw traffic piling up and I saw this car in front of me not moving and I was ready to beep the horn thinking 'C'mon man I got places to be'.

Mr Kabadayi spotted the little white dog running on the motorway

"As I edged a little forward I saw the dog, he was heading towards the motorway and doing a u-turn.

"It went through all the cars that were stationery and I thought 'I had no hope of finding it'."

In a video shared on his Facebook page , Mr Kabadayi filmed the terrified pooch darting in and around cars that had ground to a halt on the busy road.

Marley didn't give up easily and ran through residential streets before being caught

In a bid to catch the dog, he turned off to try and find the runaway.

He said: "So I turned the next road to my left and went into the road and he wasn't there.

"When I saw him there's only 10 seconds of me running but I was running for so long. I thought 'I'm gonna get tired first or he's going to get tired'."

Awww! Can catches the pooch before calling his owners

In the footage, the lost dog runs away before stopping at a house before Mr Kabadayi catches him and calls the owner's number on his collar.

Mr Kabadayi said: "I lost my dog three years ago due to the fireworks.

"It was late and they went off and he legged it. It was pitch black so I thought there's no way I'll find him.

"I know that experience so when I gave this dog back it was the best feeling in the world."

'My new buddy' Can Kabadayi catches the loose dog and drives him home

The actor had found the pooch in the NW3 area, and drove 20 minutes to the owner's home in Finchley, north London.

Filled with joy that he'd saved the small canine, he sat him down on the passenger's seat and sung songs to his "new buddy".

The heartwarming video has been by more than 1.5 million people since the chase on Monday (July 24).

On arrival at the owner's home, the bigon friese named Marley, ran into his owner's arms who said "you naughty thing".

Her pal can be heard saying "At least he's had a good walk!"

The terrified pup is now happy to be reunited with his owner and licks Mr Kabadayi in thanks

Mr Kabadayi said: "It's crazy the amount of messages I'm getting since.

"She (the owner) was offering me money and I was like 'Nah I didn't do this for money'.

"He (Marley) was hella scared, but at the end of the video you can see he's fine and he was licking my hands and everything."
