Police in Hounslow and Surrey joined forces in an operation aimed at targeting burglars and seized a stash of drugs across the borders.

Around 30 officers from the Metropolitan Police and Surrey Police took part in the joint one day Operation Centurion.

More than 2,000 vehicles were checked on the DVLA database and four people were arrested for burglary and drugs offences.

Hounslow officers arrested four men aged 18 to 25.

  • One male was arrested for possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and burglary. He was bailed until February 22.
  • A second male was arrested for possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs and aggravated vehicle taking. He was bailed until February 28.
  • A third for possession with intent to supply class A drugs and aggravated vehicle taking. He was bailed until March 16.
  • A fourth male for road traffic offences. He was bailed until March 16.

The driving offence arrest was made on the A4 in Hounslow.

Other arrests were made in Addlestone and Staines.

Three males were taken to Spelthorne police station and one to a west London police station.

One male suspect remains outstanding for theft including car keys and an old fashioned lock picking kit.

Inspector Chris Brown, from Hounslow police station, said: “This joint operation has demonstrated to the criminal fraternity that the MPS and Surrey continually work together to target and arrest criminals who travel to Surrey or London to commit crime.

“The public should be assured that we will continue to work together to target travelling criminals.

“Remember to ensure that your home is always left secure and protected against burglars.”

Specialist units including the police dogs, ANPR teams, the police helicopter and interceptor teams from Surrey, Sussex and Hounslow hunted down criminals travelling between the two force areas on Thursday (December 22).

Inspector Allan Sproston, from Surrey Police, said: “The operation clearly demonstrates that travelling criminal have no regard for county boundaries and Surrey, Sussex and the MPS will pro-actively target anyone suspected on being involved in any kind of criminality and protect the communities of both the MPS and Surrey police.”
