A large armed police presence has been spotted in Northolt.

An eyewitness captured a photo of seven officers walking through Rayners Crescent on Tuesday (June 27) morning at around 11.15am.

Metropolitan Police said it is responding to the possibility of an individual with a firearm.

Man arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm

A man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Metropolitan Police was called to the area at 9.34am on Tuesday (June 27) following reports of a man seen with a firearm.

A spokesman from the force said: “Local officers and firearms officers attended the scene and located a man inside a residential address with what is believed to be a pellet gun.

“He currently remains in custody at a west London police station pending further enquires.
“The firearm will now be subject to forensic examination.”

Just to update you all, we’re still waiting to hear back from Met Police about the nature of this incident.

What we know so far is that armed police were seen in Rayners Crescent. A witness pictured seven officers in the residential street.

Police confirmed this was to reports of an individual with a firearm.

'Pellet gun' cause for armed police presence says witness

A witness said: “Armed police had left the scene at about 11.45am and handed it over to ordinary police officers.

“Turns out a guy on Rayners Crescent had a pellet gun and was shooting it last night, and showed it to some workers earlier today who phoned the police.”

We are awaiting a response from Metropolitan Police to clarify this.

'Police trying to get into property'

A witness at the scene said: “ [The Police] were trying to get into a property.

“Both sides of the roads were blocked off.

“Lots of armed police.”
