A set of French antique war medals given by a mystery donor to a Fulham charity shop sold for more than £500 at auction.

The medals, which date back as far as 1831, were given to the Mind shop in Fulham Road, along with a drawing of French soldier Lt Gen Baron Evers, and went under the hammer at Bonhams, where they raised £561 for the mental health charity.

Shop manager Paula Berry said it was one of a number of generous donations made by members of the public.

She said: “We are extremely thankful to the donor of the medals, there’s no doubt that the money raised will help Mind in offering support and advice to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.

“We’re very lucky that the Mind shop in Fulham receives some fantastic donations. I currently have an Armani jacket in stock as well as some gorgeous bags and luxury jewellery.”
