Customers who purchased a type of vibrator from Ann Summers stores in London are being urged to return it due to concerns about the product.

The lingerie chain, which also sells a range of sex toys, is recalling the "Black Power Wand" due to a small number of "isolated reports".

A poster placed outside one of its stores in Liverpool suggests this is because of fears the product could become damaged due to "prolonged use", according to the Liverpool Echo.

The adult business has 134 stores and says anyone returning the product to its stores in London, including in White City and Oxford Street, will be given a full refund.

A spokesman said: "The quality and safety of all our products is extremely important to us.

"The Black Power Wand complies with all necessary CE safety testing standards and regulations, but we have made a voluntary decision to recall the product due to a very small number of isolated reports.

"This has been communicated across all of our 134 stores and all customers who have purchased a Black Power Wand, will be offered a full refund in-store and online.

"For any concerns or queries, please contact the Ann Summers Customer Care helpline on 0333 440 6969 or email ccare@annsummers.com ."

A notice placed near the window of their Liverpool One branch reads: “The quality and safety of our products are of paramount importance to us.

“Therefore, as a precautionary measure we are recalling the above product.

“The product complies with all relevant CE safety testing standards, but we have taken this voluntary measure in response to a very small number of isolated reports that the wires in the cord have become exposed at the base of the product over a prolonged period of use.”
