Angry protesters rallied in Greenford on Wednesday (April 20) in response to changes at Ealing Hospital.

The protest, led by the Ealing Save Our NHS group, saw around 20 people gather outside Greenford Hall as the Ealing Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) held a meeting.

Ealing CCG, along with a number of other CCG's in west London, launched Shaping a Healthier Future (SaHF) in 2012 which has overseen the closure of Ealing Hosptial's maternity unit last year and the closure of its children's ward this year .

Protesters are angry because they believe changes will reduce the effectiveness of the NHS in Ealing, a claim refuted by Ealing CCG.

Eve Turner, from Ealing Save Our NHS, said: "If this cut goes ahead the CCG will be responsible for serious delays in seriously injured or ill children getting treatment.

"It's dangerous and has no public support. "

On Tuesday (April 19) the government wrote to MP Stephen Pound, who represents Ealing North, to reject a plea to debate changes to Ealing Hospital despite a petition reaching over 100,000 signitures .
