A man was taken to hospital as firefighters spent nearly three hours trying to control a fire at a car repair workshop in Alperton .

London Fire Brigade was called to the garage on Mount Pleasant at around 4.42pm on Saturday (September 2) and sent a crew of 21 firefighters and four engines from Park Royal , Acton , Willesden and Ealing fire stations.

A man had managed to escape the building before firefighters arrived but was taken to hospital after being treated on the scene for smoke inhalation by the London Ambulance Service .

A single storey garage in the Abbey Industrial Estate was damaged in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade.
