A man has appeared in court in relation to the murder of a 50-year-old in Acton.

Giuseppe Lomedico, 54, of no fixed abode, appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday (June 12) for a plea and case management hearing in connection with the murder of Terrence Longman.

The case was adjourned pending psychiatric tests on the defendant.

Mr Longman was found dead at a flat in Acton on March 14.

In court, Mr Lomedico's defence lawyer said psychiatric issues were being investigated in relation to the defendant, including a background of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

He said reports are also being collected from overseas, including from Canada and Switzerland, and by July 17 a full report should be filed.

Judge Gordon requested a toxicology report by June 26, the pathology report by August 3, and the full psychological report and defence statement by July 17.

The case was adjourned to July 24.
