Two people have been hurt following a suspected acid attack in Fulham on Wednesday (April 19).

An 18-year-old man has been left with severe burns to his neck, face and shoulder which police say could be life-changing, while a 47-year-old woman was also hurt when the corrosive substance was thrown at them on Fulham Palace Road at 1.30pm.

It comes days after an acid attack at a Hackney nightclub left 20 people with chemical burns.

Officers from the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating the Fulham incident, which happened as the two victims were chatting at the junction of Lillie Road.

Police tests on the substance are continuing, but the Met has told getwestlondon it is “believed to be acidic in nature”.

The pair were approached by a male suspect who threw a noxious substance over the teenager, some of which also splashed onto the woman.

The suspect then ran off along Crabtree Lane and may have subsequently left the area on a moped that was parked on Bothwell Street.

The suspect is described as a black male.

Both victims were taken to a west London hospital, with the woman treated for small burns to her shoulder and neck.

They have both been discharged.
