A collision between a van and a bus on the A40 on Tuesday morning (December 6) left a driver with minor injuries and caused hours of delays that stretched from Greenford to Uxbridge.

The crash happened on the major road at around 6am near the Greenford Flyover and police were called to the scene.

A bus and a van collided on the road causing lane closures until around 9.45am and heavy congestion until around midday.

The driver of the van is believed to have suffered minor injuries but his condition is unclear.

Tailbacks stretched to the M25 and the M40 near Uxbridge, while traffic also built up around Hayes and Northolt as commuters switched routes.

Dense fog reportedly cause visibility problems on the road, but the Metropolitan Police did not say if this contributed to the crash.
