One week on from the A4 crash in which two children were injured , a road safety assembly has been held at Lampton School in Hounslow.

Hundreds of children gathered in the school hall where police officers from Hounslow addressed them.

They issued advice and guidance to encourage staying safe on the roads and its importance, on Wednesday (September 20).

Headteacher Stephen Davis said he was very grateful for the talk given by Hounslow Police and particularly proud of how Lampton students responded with full attention and a responsible attitude.

Lampton School posted a message on social media to thank the local police force for their "very wise words".

Posting on Twitter, @LamptonSch said: "Many thanks to @HounslowPolice for their very wise words and advice in assembly today, regarding road safety."

On Wednesday September 13 a lorry was in collision with two pupils from Lampton School.

Air ambulance lands on Great West Road

Emergency services were called to Great West Road at 3.30pm, where a boy aged 14 suffered severe head injuries, and a girl had minor injuries.

They were both taken to hospital, and where later said to be "making a satisfactory recovery".

The road was closed for several hours between Heston Road and Sutton Lane, while emergency services responded to the incident.

The driver stopped at the scene.

No arrests have been made and police enquiries continue.
