British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for witnesses after an 8-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a Piccadilly line train.

The young girl was travelling on the Tube on Sunday April 9 when she got separated from her family shortly before 5.30pm between Knightsbridge and Kings Cross.

She reported that before finding her way back to her family, a man touched her inappropriately a number of times.

While officers make extensive enquiries and examine CCTV footage in an attempt to locate the man, they are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The man is described as a white man who is of slim build with grey thinning hair and at the time of the incident he was wearing blue jeans, a navy jacket and glasses.

Investigating officer, detective constable Gareth Jones said: “Were you travelling on the Piccadilly Line eastbound between 5.05pm and around 5.30pm yesterday and did you witness anything that looked out of place to you?

“We are supporting the girl and her family through this investigation and are doing everything to locate the man who did this.

“Do you recognise the description? Or might you have information that could help? Please let us know as soon as you can.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or by sending a text to 61016, referencing 384 of 9 April.
