A man arrested for alleged terror-related offences has been charged by police.

Zana Abbas Sulieman, from north west London will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (August 16).

The 26-year-old is accused of distributing an Islamic State magazine and posting video on Facebook which could encourage acts of terror, and being in possession of information likely to help someone preparing a terror act.

All offences are alleged to have occurred in August this year.

He was arrested on August 8.

The full charges are as follows:

  • On August 7 2017 was in possession of a record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2000.
  • On August 4 2017 distributed a terrorist publication, by posting a 16-page Islamic State magazine on Facebook which was likely to be understood by some or all members of the public to whom it was disseminated as a direct encouragement by them to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and at the time of doing so intended them to be so encouraged or was reckless as to whether they would be so encouraged. Contrary to section 2(1) of the Terrorism Act 2006.
  • On August 7 2017 distributed a terrorist publication, by posting a video on Facebook which was likely to be understood by some or all members of the public to whom it was disseminated as a direct encouragement by them to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and at the time of doing so intended them to be so encouraged or was reckless as to whether they would be so encouraged. Contrary to section 2(1) of the Terrorism Act 2006.
