2013 A Year In Review: July to September

A suspected Mafia boss was arrested allegedly hiding out in Uxbridge, a Ruislip woman scooped £1million on the Euro lottery and Star Wars characters invaded the streets of Northolt.

Alleged Mafia boss Domenico Rancadore was arrested in Uxbridge, and for a few days the quiet sidestreet where he had lived for 18 years was the centre of media attention. He remains in custody pending extradition to Italy.

Hayes and Harlington MP John McDonnell returned to work after a heart attack, pitching into his first debate – on the Syrian crisis, and Jane O’Brien of Ruislip discovered she had won £1m on the Euromillions lottery. Not only that but she had walked around for three months without knowing she had a winning ticket in her handbag.

A massive fire at a factory in Park Royal sent plumes of smoke into the air which could be seen for miles around, and took 80 firefighters to wrestle it under control. And the Force was strong in Northolt when characters from Star Wars took to the streets to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Storm Troopers were spotted enjoying a takeaway!
