A 13-year-old boy has been arrested by detectives investigating linked sexual assaults in Westminster.

The boy was arrested at an address in Kilburn at 2.30pm on Sunday (June 21).

He was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and remains in custody at a central London police station.

Police are now appealing for witnesses following the two sexual assaults - believed to be linked - which have taken place over the last few weeks.

The first assault took place on Kilburn Park Road, Westminster, near Augustine Primary School at 10.35pm on June 1.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was followed by along Kilburn Park Road and was allegedly touched inappropriately.

The second incident took place on Saltram Crescent, Westminster, at around 10pm on Wednesday (June 17).

The victim, also a woman in her 20s, was followed as she walked home from work. She had taken the bus before getting off at Carlton Vale at the junction of Pentland Road. She then walked through a park where she first noticed the suspect. She continued to walk through an alleyway, believed to be on Malvern Road and turned on to Saltram Crescent.

The suspect attempted to engage her in conversation and then touched her inappropriately.

He pressed himself against her, to which she responded by pushing him away and calling out for help. The suspect ran off in the direction of the route in which they had walked.
