More than 10 Phones 4u stores in West London are likely to be closed down today (Monday), following the company announcing it was going into administration.

Mobile phone contract suppliers EE joined Vodaphone in failing to renew its contract with the high street retailer, leaving them with no way to trade.

More than 5,000 staff now find their jobs at risk, but many were told to continue their day as normal, and go into work in their uniform where meetings would take place.

Chief Executive of Phones 4U David Kassler said: “Today is a very sad day for our customers and staff. If the mobile network operators decline to supply us, we do not have a business. A good company making profits of over £100 million, employing thousands if decent people has been forced into administration."

The Phones 4U website was put offline leaving only contact details for customer services, and stating that the closure of the company was due to the “unexpected decision of EE and Vodafone to withdraw supply” before signing off with “The heartbroken Phones 4U Team.”

Customers who have a contract mobile phone under Phones 4U will still have their contract honoured. Those who have ordered handsets from the company will still receive the delivery as long as the handset has been dispatched. Handsets that have not been dispatched will be refunded.

The immediate administration of the company comes to the shock of both its staff and customers, after accepting pre-orders on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s devices during the weekend.

Dixons Carphone, issued a series of three Tweets in their support for the staff of Phones 4U as they said: "With regards to our Phones 4U shop-inshop colleagues we hope to help them secure new jobs with us and will be discussing with the administrators to agree what we can do."

The Chiswick and Hounslow stores did not open and there were no answers of phone calls to the branch. The company also had branches in Uxbridge, Harrow, Brent Cross, West Ealing, Kensington, Fulham and in Westfield in Shepherds Bush.
