Strangers helped a dying mum's dream wedding come true at a hospice.

Lorraine May, 44, was due to tie the knot with her partner Ronnie De'Munnik next month but became so ill she decided to bring the ceremony forward.

The couple married at Woodlands Hospice, based in the grounds of Aintree Hospital, Liverpool, in a moving ceremony attended by their children, family and friends.

But the heartwarming ceremony was only made possible through the kindness of strangers.

Hearing of Lorraine and Ronnie's situation, donations including a wedding dress, cake, champagne and a make-up artist for the bride, poured into the hospice from well-wishers.

Entering the dining area of the hospice, which had been adapted to cater for the service, Lorraine looked stunning as she made the short walk down the makeshift aisle to the strains of Adele's 'Make You Feel My Love'.

After passing around 30 family and friends, she was met with a round of applause after being greeted by her soon-to-be-husband.

Eight minutes later, the couple were kissing in celebration after their marriage was confirmed.

Describing the day as the best of her life, Lorraine said: "I just feel amazed by the nurses - and the people who donated everything.

"It wouldn't have happened without them, there's no way we would have done this on our own. I just want to say thank you to everybody."

Patient at Woodlands Hospice Liverpool Lorraine May and her partner Ronnie De'Munnik brought their wedding forward due to Lorraines ill health. Their Son Ronnie (5) was also christened after the wedding ceremony.

Lorraine, from Croxteth, Liverpool, was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago but it spread to the rest of her body and 18 months ago she was told it was terminal.

Lorraine, who became a patient at the hospice just two weeks ago, said: "I was given 18 months, which took me to April, but I wanted to pull the wedding forward because of how I was feeling, so that's why I've chosen

today.

"The wedding has only been made possible because of the public who have donated everything needed for the wedding to take place.

"Everyone has been so kind and I don't even know the people who have donated."

She added: "The nurses and staff have been wonderful and I'm so very grateful for everything they have done."

Following their wedding ceremony, Lorraine and Ronnie's son Ronnie, aged five, was christened. Lorraine's other sons Joshua, 16, and Shaun, 23, from a previous relationship, were also watching on, with Shaun giving Lorraine away.
