A LITTLE girl was born in Ealing hospital on the same day as the royal baby came into the world.

Amelia Maria Rej, weighing 3.89kg, was delivered half an hour past midnight on Monday (July 22).

Parents Konrad Rej, 41, and Monika Rej, 38, who have lived in Greenford for eight years, took their newborn home later that day and said they were having friends over for a celebratory barbecue.

Mrs Rej, a cleaner, said that people were joking beforehand that her due date would be on the same day as Kate Middleton’s.

She said: "I think people might be slightly jealous. It will be an easy day to remember now."

The couple, who are originally from Poland, said it was their seven-year-old daughter Julia who chose the name Amelia.

The father, who works as a builder, said: "Julia was talking to the tummy when my wife was pregnant. We also have a 14-year-old son, Kamil. They were both over the moon about their new sister."

Mr and Mrs Rej found out the sex of their baby 21 weeks ago, after the second scan.

Baby Amelia slept soundly for her first night.
