Wear A Hat Day is on Friday 31st March 2017.

The fund raising event encourages people to wear fun and kooky hats in order to raise money for the Brain Tumour Research charity.

It's a great excuse to let your imagination run wild and have fun with lots of different designs. You could even decorate one yourself.

All you need to do to take part is register here . Once you have done this you will receive a fund raising pack with leaflets, posters and information.

It will also include a Wear A Hat Day Merchandise Order Form and a paying-in slip for transferring the funds raised after your event.

A host of celebrities will be wearing a hat for the day including actress and Loose Women presenter Linda Robson.

She says: “My cousin had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and I’m amazed by the lack of funding so I’m doing what I can to help raise awareness and increase support.”

Top 10 tips on how to take part:

Coffee morning, lunch or afternoon tea

Organise a get together and ask everyone to wear their favourite hat – or tea cosy – and make a donation for vital research. You could also ask people to bake something to bring with them.

Hat Hoopla

Persuade friends and family to donate some tempting prizes, lay them out in a line, then test your aim; win the prize your hat lands on.

Pass the hate

Equip yourself with a tall top hat or the like, and get everyone at work, in your street, or your family to fill it to the brim with coins or stuff it full of notes.

Hat quiz

Test your knowledge with great selection of quizzes available to download from their Hatters Workshop .

Big hatty bake off

Whether you hold a hat-shaped baking competition or host a delicious bake sale, sweet treats never fail to get the taste buds going and the donations flowing.

Hatselfies Photobooth

Get one of the #hattastic photobooth kits and get posing! Invite everyone to join in and post your best #hatselfies on the Wear A Hat Day Instagram gallery. Don’t forget to text donate at the same time – send HAT to 70660 to donate £5.

Hat Walkabout

Get out into the great outdoors; set a route and ask your family and friends to join you in their favourite head-gear (the sillier the better!).

Design Your Own

Design and make your own #hattastic creations – think toilet rolls, pipe cleaners and lots of glitter. You could even suggest it to your school or youth group and stage a hat-walk fashion show, an Easter-bonnet event.

Famous Hats Film Night

Willy Wonka, Indiana Jones, Sherlock Holmes are just a few of the film characters who wear an iconic hat. Ask your friends round for a night of film watching and hat-wearing and ask for donations in lieu of a cinema ticket.

Secret Hat

Make a surprise hat for a nominated member of the family (pupil or colleague if you do it in school or work) and place bets on whose will be the most fashionable, imaginative, fun etc. and donate some or all of the proceeds to the cause.
