Can I order one Big Mac meal for DELIVERY please!?

The rumours are true! McDonald's are preparing to roll out a delivery service in the UK which could be introduced as early as summer.

It will be music to the ears of fans of the fast food giant who will soon no longer have to step outside their front door to munch on a their favourite orders.

Reports suggest a trial is set to start in a couple of months, in June, meaning you could be inhaling your cheeseburger at home very soon.

However you will have to wait a little bit longer to find out if you live in the catchment area.

A McDonald's spokesperson said: “It is no secret we have been looking at the potential of delivery in recent months.

"This service is offered in other markets around the world and its growth within the UK, continues to gather pace.

"Listening to our customers, we know that this is a route they would like us to explore, and I can confirm that we are looking to launch a small delivery pilot this summer.

"Specific locations to be included within this pilot are yet to be decided.”

McDonald's remains tight-lipped about any potential areas the delivery service will be rolled out to, but remains optimistic it will expand quickly.

Speaking to The Telegraph, McDonald's UK chief executive Paul Pomroy said: "We will start with a delivery service from the right number of sites that gives us scale.

"I expect we will take a similar approach to the way we rolled out our app, starting small, learning quickly and scaling up very quickly."

The delivery service is believed will be outsourced, meaning the likes of Deliveroo could be in with a chance for the contract.

Speaking to Sky News, Mr Pomroy added: "We think we're going to start probably in June.

"We looked at other brands that already do delivery. We're not the first to deliver. But we want to be a follower that does it in the right way."
