A 47-year-old man from Cardiff has been charged with terror offences after Muslim worshippers were targeted in a van attack on Seven Sisters Road.

Darren John Osborne was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning (June 19), after the incident in which one man was killed and eight injured.

He was charged on Friday (June 23) with terrorism related murder and attempted murder.

A van hit a group of Muslims who had left nearby Finsbury Park Mosque after special evening prayers during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Makram Ali, a 51-year-old father of six who was receiving first aid from members of the public at the time when he was mowed down, died at the scene.

Eight others were taken to hospital for treatment, four of whom remain in hospital.

Osborne was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrate's Court on Friday (June 23).

Detectives from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command continue to appeal for information and police have released an image of the van used in the attack, which has the number plate: PO54 CSF.

Anyone with information, or who spoke to the driver before the attack, is encouraged to call police in confidence on 0800 789 321.

Police believe the van was driven from the Cardiff area at around 8.20pm on Sunday (June 18).

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said: "Following the attack, specialist counter terrorism officers have spoken to 28 witnesses who were at the scene.

"We are very grateful to everyone who has provided information so far – their accounts are assisting the investigation hugely - but we need more people to come forward and tell us what they saw and what they know about the driver of this van.
