Travellers who moved into a Greenford site last week reportedly starting leaving on Thursday evening (July 14).

Onlookers have described how around 40 travellers moved into the former Hovis bakery site, in Oldfield Lane, on July 10.

One person, who has asked not to be named, said that the travellers had used their own padlocks on gates surrounding the site to lock out members of the public.

The man, who passed the site earlier in the week, said: "They have barricaded themselves in. They decide who is going in and out of the gate.

"They have taken over the whole site. It was padlocked but they have broken it and they have put their own padlocks there."

But according to a nearby business, many of the caravans began to move out of the site on Thursday (July 14) from around 8pm.

getwestlondon has asked Met police if they had ordered them to leave.

The camp is the latest in a series in recent weeks, as travellers moved onto Norwood Green in Ealing last week, forcing the cancellation of a village fun day last weekend .

The camp moved on this week, but were replaced almost immediately by a new camp .

Yiewlsey is also dealing with its own encampment, which moved in on Wednesday .
