Bollywood dancing was one of the activities on offer at the opening of Southall Sports Centre .

More than 1,000 people attended the celebration for the completion of the £500k investment works to the centre on March 22.

Everyone Active , who operate the centre on behalf of Ealing Council, put on a day of free family activities including group cycling sessions, exercise classes, sport taster lessons, a bouncy castle and entertainers such as face painters and balloon modellers.

Everyone Active Contract Manager James Bowden said: “We are incredibly grateful to all of those that came and made the day such a success.”

“It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved with all of the different activities.

“We received brilliant feedback about the upgrade and look forward to welcoming more people to the centre in the coming weeks.”

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “It is fantastic that so many people had the opportunity to try out the new equipment and explore the upgraded Southall Sports Centre.

“I hope the free taster sessions gave people motivation to get active and make the most of these brilliant facilities on their doorstep.”

Prizes on the day included a hamper worth £2,000 which included a full family membership, personal training sessions and a £500 cheque.
