Police have arrested a man in Heathrow Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences.

Met police said the 29-year-old man was about to board a flight to Saudi Arabia from the airport on Monday (June 20) afternoon.

But before he could board his flight, officers arrested him on suspicion of possessing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

He was initially detained under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act before his arrest.

The suspect has been take to a London police station, where he remains in custody.

Police have confirmed that officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command are searching an address in west London.

A number of electronic devices have been seized for further examination in connection with the investigation.
