Neighbours have paid tribute to Czeslaw Dudek who died after collapsing just metres away from the finishing line of a 10km run in Surrey on Sunday March 5.

The 37-year-old, a married father-of-one from Feltham , received emergency medical treatment at the scene, but was pronounced dead on his arrival to hospital.

It is believed that Mr Dudek's wife Sylwia and their seven-year-old daughter were cheering him on at the race in Weybridge, Surrey.

Neighbours of the family told getwestlondon they have been left in "total shock" following the passing of a "genuine, friendly guy".

One neighbour of the family, Paul, said: "He was a nice guy, he was a family guy, nice, genuine, friendly guy, if he could help you, he would, he was just a good all-round egg.

"It is just a sad sad loss, such a sad shame for her and her little girl. Total shock."

Another neighbour, Daryll Brierley, said: "He used to work in his garage over there and he just always took time out to wave at you and say hello.

"He was just a lovely guy."

Hounslow Council has also paid tribute to the family, with leader of the council, Councillor Steve Curran, saying: "I was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Feltham resident Czeslaw Dudek, who passed away while taking part in a charity event at the weekend.

“I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Mr Dudek’s family and friends and to the wider community in Feltham.”

A fundraising page set up for the family has exceeded £10,000 in donations in just two days.

An original target of £5,000 has now been increased to £15,000 and more than 400 people have donated.

The page was created by friend, Ilo Bienkowska, in support of Mr Dudek's family.

He said: "He was a loving and caring dad and husband.

"His sudden death has left his wife and 7-year-old daughter in tragic situation and shatter their lives.

"No amount of money will bring Czeslaw back, but hopefully it will help his family do what ever they need to do."
