I attended St John’s Church in Stanmore on Sunday to celebrate the thanksgiving service to commemorate the Battle of Britain. Deputy Lieutenant John Purnell, cadet units and ex-service organisations supported the service. Also in attendance was the mayor of Harrow Councillor Ajay Maru, who then made an after service speech to thank all those who had assembled.

I held a question and answer session on Tuesday for members of the public on Twitter. The Harrow account currently has 12,300 Twitter followers and this is a great way to share good news, community activities and intelligence. I am always happy to engage and answer questions relating to Harrow and the service we provide. I welcome you to follow us on twitter @MPSHarrow.

I am very much looking forward to attending Harrow’s Freedom Parade this Saturday. This will be the first time in 18 years that the parade will take place in Harrow to recognise the services to Harrow from the various organisations. The event is part of Harrow’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations as well as commemorating the beginning of the First World War. I am honoured to be part of this prestigious event. Everyone is welcome to come along from 10.30am in Harrow town centre.

A man who skipped police bail and fled to Israel in 2010 has been sentenced to two years and eight months’ imprisonment at Harrow Crown Court. Adam Rubinstein was arrested in June 2010 after being identified as the suspect who robbed a man and a woman as they sat in their car in the car park of a Stanmore supermarket in the early hours of Sunday, June 20, 2010.

Rubinstein was arrested and bailed while officers carried out further enquiries. He didn’t return on bail and when officers attended his home address his family didn’t know of his whereabouts. Officers discovered that he had fled to Israel – our officers obtained an arrest warrant and followed the process to extradite him.
