A Wembley man has been jailed for seven and a half years after using his Acton off-licence to store a firearm and supply drugs.

Mohammud Chowdari used his premises at Grapvines off-licence in Churchfield Road to store cocaine, cannabis and a shotgun.

The 30-year-old, of Forty Lane, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court last Friday (June 17) after pleading guilty to numerous offences in January.

Officers raided the premises in November last year and found large quantities of cannabis and cocaine worth an estimated street value of £150,000.

A total of £180,000 in cash was also discovered along with a shotgun, ammunition and canisters of CS gas before Chowdari was arrested taken into custody.

Chowdari was present while his premises was raided and within two days officers had suspended the premises licence before it was eventually revoked.

Inspector Gareth Winnard, from Ealing borough, said: "Due to the weight of evidence gathered by Ealing officers during this meticulous investigation, Chowdari was left with no choice but to plead guilty to these offences.

"Those who choose to involve themselves in criminal activity have no place in our borough and I want to reassure the residents of Ealing that we are committed to arresting such people and putting them before the courts.

"This conviction began with intelligence received from the local community about drug dealing and associated criminality that was having an adverse affect on their lives.

"I hope Chowdari's conviction shows that we will act upon intelligence provided and are committed to working with the local community to make Ealing a better place for its residents".

Chowdari had pleaded guilty and was sentenced for possession of a handgun, a prohibited weapon and ammunition.

He had also pleaded guilty and was sentenced for possession with intent to supply a controlled class A drug, two counts of possession to supply a controlled class B drug and to facilitate the acquisition/acquire/possess criminal property.
