Police have charged a man after an ambulance in Greenford had its tyres slashed as paramedics helped a critically injured pedestrian .

Ealing Metropolitan Police Service said they had charged and remanded a 43-year-old male for criminal damage and possessing a knife.

Officers said the charge followed an incident on Saturday (July 2) when an ambulance had its tyres slashed after crews were called to a road traffic collision.

Paramedics were called on to the A40 at around 11.30pm and helped a man in his 40s following the collision.

But while London Ambulance Service (LAS) were at work, a suspect slashed the vehicles tyres using what is suspected to be a knife.

Traffic officers used CS spray on the suspect to detain him.

And on Monday (July 4) officers confirmed they had charged a suspect in relation to the incident.
