A TEENAGER was stabbed on Saturday afternoon, just minutes away from where children and adults enjoyed the Acton Carnival.

Police and ambulance crews were called to reports of a stabbing at 3.40pm just outside the Gala Bingo hall in Melville Villas Road at the junction with Uxbridge Road, Acton.

An air ambulance was also called to the scene and the teenager, aged between 15 and 18 was taken to hospital suffering stab wounds where his condition was described as serious, but not life-threatening.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and Detective Inspector James Raphael of Ealing CID said: "Although the incident was not connected to the Acton Carnival, which was taking place nearby, the area was very busy.

"We need to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has information that may assist police."

A London Ambulance spokeswoman said: "We were called at 3.40pm to reports of a stabbing on Uxbridge Road.

"We sent one ambulance crew, an air ambulance and a duty officer to the scene.

"Our staff treated a boy reported to be 15-years-old and took him as a priority to hospital in a ground ambulance."

Anyone with information should call Ealing Police on 020 8246 2020; or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

He remains in custody at a west London police station.
