SHOPPERS are being given the opportunity to have their say on how a £1.28million town centre regeneration should look.
Architects Adams and Sutherland will work in partnership with architects, Assemble, to transform Lowlands recreation ground, close to Harrow-on-the-Hill train station, into a town centre park.
Commissioned by Harrow Council, the project will include a performance space, children’s play facilities, pathways across the park and an extension into Station Approach that aims to improve access for passengers using Harrow-on-the-Hill station.
Before work begins, Harrow Council is asking businesses, people and shoppers to share their thoughts on how they would like the space to be used.
Harrow Council portfolio holder for planning and regeneration, councillor Keith Ferry, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to have their say in what is a truly unique regeneration project for the borough.”
The council secured funding for the project through the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund. The Lowlands scheme is one of several related projects to improve Harrow town centre as part of the Heart of Harrow project over the next 15 years.
The latest plans will be unveiled at a series of public drop-in sessions near the front entrance of Harrow-on-the-Hill Station on Tuesday from noon to 6pm. The project team will be there to discuss ideas and answer questions and listen to suggestions.
Further drop-in sessions will be held over the next few weeks as part of the consultation process arranged by the Friends of the Lowlands, which includes community groups, as well as architects and council representatives. The final plans will be in place by March.
