ARE you a council tenant or leaseholder in Brent and have something to say?

Brent Housing Partnership, which runs Brent Council’s housing stock as an arms-length management organisation, is holding one roadshow a week for the next five weeks to hear their customers’ views on the borough’s communities and neighbourhoods and to introduce them to their contractors.

Christina Byrne, a BHP community leadership manager, said: “We are really looking forward to the Residents’ Roadshows as they will be a perfect opportunity for us to meet residents in a more relaxed setting and listen to any issues, concerns or improvements that they would like to see.

“It will also be an opportunity for residents to meet Wates Living Space and Veolia who are extremely keen to establish good relationships with the local community.”

The roadshows will provide an opportunity for residents to meet BHP board members, BHP staff and representatives from BHP’s repairs and maintenance contractor Wates Living Space - which will have a ‘grow your own food’ stand and will provide information on forthcoming training and employment opportunities - and Veolia, which takes over the new grounds maintenance contractor in September.

There will be music, food and fun activities for children, young people and adults at each roadshow.

Phil Sperring, business director at Wates Living Space, said: “The roadshows will provide an excellent opportunity for us to meet residents face to face, answer questions and explain how we plan to use our presence in the area to make a positive difference to the lives of local people.

“Visitors to our ‘grow your own stand’ will walk away with some top tips on how to grow fruit and vegetables at home and we will also be on hand to talk through the employment and training opportunities that will be created over the coming months.”

Doug Taylor, contract manager for Veolia Brent, said: “Veolia are looking forward to working closely with BHP and attending these exciting and informative roadshows that have been set up throughout July and August.

“The roadshows give residents the opportunity to interact with our staff and to share experiences and ideas with them.”

BHP manages 12,500 properties on behalf of the council and 300 of its own.
