Youngsters are being urged to practice 'responsible' trick or treating this weekend by Help the Aged.

ChildLine and Help the Aged have released a  ‘Throw Your Own Haunted House Party’ leaflet in Morrison's stores, offering tips for young people on safe and responsible trick or treating and advice for older people on how to feel secure.

Alan Burnett, Help the Aged policy officer for community living, said: “Halloween can be a particularly stressful time for some older people, particularly those who are in poor health and living alone. Noise at night and unexpected callers can cause anxiety for those who feel vulnerable.”

The leaflet tells youths not to go out alone or visit to houses that are not lit up and urges older people to have guests round for dinner.

Are leaflets the answer to teens terrorising the elderly at Halloween? Are older people right to be scared or is it all just harmless fun? Let us know what you think in the box below
