YOUNGSTERS pitted their maths skills against each other in an annual brain-busting contest.

The maths challenge was hosted by Abbotsfield School, Clifton Gardens, Hillingdon, on Thursday last week.

Groups of students had to complete a number of problem-solving challenges and working together was the key to success.

Haydon School, Wiltshire Lane, Eastcote, were crowned winners, pipping hosts Abbotsfield by half a point.

Bishops Ramsey School, Hume Way, Ruislip, came third – the first time they have placed in the competition for 10 years.

Sixteen schools took part, a mixture of private and comprehensives.

A parents’ quiz was won by relatives of Hillingdon’s Vyners School pupils.
