A talented teenager of Acton impressed judges at the finals of a young music competition.

Jordan Cajigal, 17, performed at the national finals of TeenStar, a contest which searches for the UK’s best singers and songwriters, on Saturday .

The Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) A level student appeared with his band We!Are in the late teens category of the event held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, performing an original song called Shining Light alongside former RuTC student, Jeniequa Quamina.

Jordan, who came to the College from Acton High School and who also studies a BTEC level 3 subsidiary diploma in music technology, had to battle through regional and area final heats to make it to the last stage in Birmingham.

The panel described We!Are as a talented group with catchy songs that have great melodies.

Jordan said: “Reaching the national finals in Birmingham was a really proud moment and playing at the NEC is something I’ll never forget.

“The whole competition has been a brilliant journey and has made me even more determined to succeed in the music industry.”
