MOVING tributes have been left for a 16-year-old boy who was killed when his moped collided with a bus on Kingston Bridge at the weekend.

Daniel Izquierdo, was driving away from Kingston on his moped when he overtook a car and hit a 411 bus travelling in the opposite direction at about 3.40pm on Saturday.

An ambulance was called but Daniel was pronounced dead at the scene at about 4.20pm.

Dozens of bouquets of flowers were placed across the bridge, including two from his parents which read: "We'd like to thank you from our hearts for all your wonderful messages to Daniel. He was loved by so many.

"We love you so much and will miss you. Daniel will always be remembered as a massive part of our family. All my love and kisses,"

Another note left for the popular teenager read: "To Daniel, none of us wanted this. You was such a lovely person who will be remembered in all of our hearts forever. Now rest in peace – you're in god's hands always and forever."

The bridge was closed in both directions until 9.06pm, causing huge traffic jams in and out of Kingston town centre.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward. Detective Sergeant Tony Tobin, who is leading the investigation, said: "A Saturday afternoon in Kingston is a particularly busy time of day and there would have been a lot of people in the area.

"We are appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or who saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the collision, to contact our incident room. You may have vital information to help us piece together how this tragic incident occurred."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton Traffic Garage on 0208 941 9011 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
