THE accomplishments of young people from Hillingdon have been acknowledged at the annual Young Achievers Awards, organised by the council's Youth and Connexions service.

At a ceremony held last week at the Park Inn Hotel, near Heathrow, awards were presented to people aged between 11 and 25 who live in or attend schools in the borough.

The annual awards are given for educational and sporting achievements, and to groups of young people who have volunteered for youth projects. There were also awards for participants of this year's Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

Nominees were put forward by organisations they work with and via Hillingdon's education and children's services.

Tom Murphy, head of Youth and Connexions, said: "This is always a fantastic event and a great way for the council to recognise the achievements of young people. We are extremely proud of the hard work that young people put in to reach their goals."
