GARAGES in Harrow Weald have been demolished by yobs who pulled off doors, smashed cars, and left personal belongings strewn across the street.

As many as 10 garages, which are rented out by Harrow Council, are thought to have been targeted by vandals at the site in Augustine Road, Harrow Weald, at some point over the weekend.

One resident, who forks out more than £700 a year for the storage, is disgusted by the mindless damage – which has left her vintage car ruined.

She said: "This clearly looks like a bunch of kids running riot, but to have done this level of damage they must have been there for hours.

"It's becoming a real problem around there and it is getting to be criminal hotspot. Why aren't these kids parents doing something about it?

"I have had that car, which is a war department vehicle, for more than 20 years and it obviously has a lot of sentimental value to me.

"God knows how I am going to find new headlights and a windscreen for such an old car. Parts are going to be impossible to find."

The doors of a number of other garages have been completely removed or bent, while most have been daubed in graffiti.
