A proposal has been withdrawn to host an X Factor promotional gig for up to 10,000 fans in Olympic Way in front of Wembley Stadium and featuring a secret pop act.

Last week, getwestlondon revealed the plans by Thames Television for short concert with a mystery headliner for the ITV primetime show created by Simon Cowell.

The premises licence application submitted was due to be decided by Brent Council's alcohol and entertainment licensing sub-comittee yesterday but a council spokeswoman confirmed the plans were withdrawn beforehand.

In order to hold the gig on July 28 between 12.30pm and 2pm, the production company proposed to shut off most of the length of the pedestrianised walkway from underneath Bobby Moore Bridge near Wembley Park Station up to the ramps at Wembley Stadium, and the build a stage at one end.

Julie Burfoot, from Thames Television, wrote in the application: "We will invite people to come and watch a short performance by a famous music act. The performance will be a maximum of 45 minutes.

"Prior to this we will have a warm-up artist 'warm up' the crowd whilst we achieve some shots. This will also be approximately one hour. This will include our presenter also appearing for some filming.

"After the performance, our four members of our judging panel will also want to make an appearance - this will be brief."
