X Factor contestant Emily Middlemas popped into schools in White City and Shepherd’s Bush to talk to pupils about how bullying affected her life.

The anti-bullying ambassador visited Burlington Danes Academy and Old Oak primary schools on June 25, where she spoke to Year Five and Six children.

She discussed her experience of bullying and how she coped during the difficult times, before giving tips on how to deal with bullying, who to talk to, and how to cope with the pressures of moving to secondary schools.

The assemblies concluded with Emily playing some of her songs to them.

Afterwards, Emily said: "As a victim of bullying myself, I know how much it hurts and I am really pleased that I got invited to give a talk on a subject which is very important to me.

"During the assembly all the children were fantastic and surprised to see me. They took a keen interest in hearing my experiences of bullying and participated by asking questions.

"They enjoyed my songs, and I very much enjoyed spending the day with them."

PC Shawn Ross helped arrange the visits and said: "Emily is a true star for taking the time to come and give a talk on a very important subject.

"All the children really enjoyed her company and I hope they act on her advice and know what to do if they ever experience bullying."
