X FACTOR star Rebecca Ferguson gave the audience at a Hammersmith pub more than they bargained for when she stepped on stage for a surprise performance last week.

People attending The Distillers pub on Wednesday, November 23, were dumbfounded when the finalist of last year’s series was introduced from nowhere.

Ms Ferguson performed three songs and then sat down to enjoy the rest of the entertainment.

This gesture particularly impressed manager Monika Woods, 29.

She said: “She stayed and listened to the acts after her.

“She was quite shy with her head down most of the time and often standing in the corner but that was part of her charm.

“She was really lovely.”

The promoters of the Liverpool-born singer booked the Regal Room in the back of the Fulham Palace Road pub to hone Ms Ferguson’s live skills.

As she is embarking on a nationwide tour in February, her management were keen to give her some early public exposure.

Tsen Estevez, 21, from Streatham and a member of the bar staff could not contain her excitement at the star’s performance.

Ms Estevez said: “She was awesome, really friendly and was giving time to anyone who wanted to chat with her.

“I was supporting her in last year’s X Factor and booing Matt Cardle.”

The Distillers has a history of hosting acts from the ITV show with Jamie Archer and the group Little Mix having also sung there.
