A NEW market in Wembley has been hailed a success and will continue each month.

The World Women Wembley group, which was formed by like-minded craftspeople at Cottrell House, Wembley Hill Road, hosted a market on Sunday.

Roshni Goyate, a writer and one of the organisers, said: “It went really, really well, it felt like it was a really big success. We were all really chuffed at how it went and there were about 20 stalls there. A lot of ladies were doing it for the first time and it was a great platform and gave them something to work towards and try new things. There was interest from people in the area and lots of people came over and said that it was a great thing for the community here, we got a lot of support and people said they will definitely come to the next one and want to get involved.”

The market was hosted on Mother’s Day as a happy coincidence and was full of art, crafts and clothes from talented people in the area.

Stalls hosted ceramics, textiles, art work, jewellery, cakes, cards and more and Roshni is hoping that the market will expand each month.

Architecture students had built a stage outside Cottrell House for spoken word performances, and this along with different types of food on offer will hopefully develop as the market becomes more established.

Although the group is called World Women Wembley it is open to anyone who would like to hold a stall and develop their craft or small business.

The organisers are planning to hold another event on Sunday April 27 outside Cottrell House, it is likely to go ahead but has not been confirmed.
