A work experience programme for students at Chiswick School has scooped an accolade at the Lord Mayor's Dragon Awards.
The Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work initiative collected the enterprise and employment award for future focus, its two year programme with 14 to 16-year-olds to help improve their confidence and employability skills.
Over the past couple years, almost 400 pupils have left with a level 2 qualification in Work Related Learning.
Year 11 students, Tyra Benjamin-Anthony, Georgie Champion and George Gers took part in Future Focus attending workshops, CV writing and speed networking sessions as well as job interview preparation.
Tyra Benjamin-Anthony, 15, from Chiswick said: “Enjoy-Work has shown me that life after school will have challenges but it has made me understand what I need to do in order to get a job in a career I want.
“Having the Enjoy-work programme has inspired me to have further education and go on to college and taught me what I need to do to apply for the colleges I would like to go to.”
The awards have been running for 27 years.
Gemma McNeilis, sustainability manager for Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work said: "We are hugely honoured to have been recognised for our work experience programme with Chiswick School.
"Over the past 14 years we have developed a strong relationship with students and teachers at the school, and being shortlisted for a Dragon, is testament to all the hard work that has gone into this programme from everyone involved.
"As a company Enjoy-Work is 100% committed to supporting local students to become the workforce of the future."
Lord Mayor of the City of London, Fiona Woolf said: “This year’s awards remind us that London businesses really make a difference to their local communities – often strengthening charities from the inside, so they have the skills to be sustainable.
"As we’ve seen, that can mean a law firm helping with free legal advice to victims of human trafficking, an interior design company who support torture victims and property consultants who work with a homeless charity – everyone a story of a life transformed."
