THE jobs of hundreds of Woolworths staff across Hillingdon are hanging in the balance today as talks to find a buyer for the firm collapsed.
The firm have been in administration for over two weeks now, and it had been hoped a rescue package could save the 99 year-old firm, and over 30,000 jobs nationwide.
There are three stores in the borough, one in Uxbridge High Street, one in Uxbridge Road, Hayes, and another in Ruislip High Street.
A fresh everything must go 50 per cent off sale has been launched, and with many shelves already near empty, it is feared the stores may not see 2009.
