A woman in her 30s was rushed to hospital today after having to be cut from her car by fire crews.

Emergency services were called at 11am to reports of an accident involving two cars.

The woman described as being in her early 30s had to be cut from the vehicle. Once freed she was taken to hospital with back injuries and abdominal pain.

An elderly person was treated at the scene after complaining of feeling faint and breathless but was not taken to hospital.

Fire crews had to use their cutting equipment to free the woman.

Church Road was closed for the duration of the rescue operation and Uxbridge Road experienced congestion as a result. Church Road was cleared by 2pm.

A spokesman from London Fire Brigade said: "We were called at 11:25am to reports of a road traffic accident involving two cars. The brigades cutting equipment had to be used to free a woman trapped in her car. "

An ambulance spokesperson said: "We got a call at 10:57am to attend the scene of an accident on Church Road. Two ambulances attended. One woman in her 30s was taken to Ealing Hospital with back injuries and abdominal pain. Another elderly person was treated after complaining of feeling faint but did not need hospital treatment."
