A woman survived being thrown up to 30ft in a crash outside Gunnersbury station last night.
The 37-year-old pedestrian was hit by a blue van as she crossed Chiswick High Road shortly before 7pm.
A police spokesman said she was estimated to have been knocked 20-30ft along the road as a result of the impact.
He said she was taken to a central London hospital with head injuries, which were not found to be life-threatening or life-chanigng.
He added that the van had stopped at the scene and no one had been arrested in connection with the collision.
A spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service said it was called at 6.53pm to reports of a collision involving a van and a bike. She said paramedics had treated a woman and taken her as a priority to St Mary's Hospital, in Paddington.
A police spokesman said the woman was initially believed to have been a cyclist but it later turned out she was on foot.
