A cyclist was killed yesterday in Notting Hill Gate after being run over by a lorry.
30-year-old Eilidh Cairns died in hospital hours after the accident at the juntion with Pembridge Road at 8.58am yesterday morning.
"It appears the cyclist had gone under the front wheels of the lorry," said a Kensington and Chelsea police spokeswoman.
London Fire Brigade cut the woman free of the vehicle and she was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. She died at 10.49am.
The driver of the lorry has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was yesterday interviewed at Chelsea Police Station in Lucas Place, Chelsea.
After the accident, roads were closed, buses diverted and cordons put in place until 1.30pm.
Next of kin have been informed and an inquest will be opened at Westminster Coroner's Court in Horseferry Road, Pimlico.
