A woman had to be freed after a car she was travelling in overturned close to the famous Iron Bridge in Hanwell.

Severe traffic is still being reported in the area hours after the incident at the junction of the A4127 Windmill Lane and the A4020 Uxbridge Road just along from Ealing Hospital.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed it was called to the area at 10.25am this morning (Wednesday) to reports of an RTA involving two cars.

During the collision one of the vehicles overturned, trapping one of the passengers inside.

Two ambulance crews and a single responder car attended, along with a duty officer and the LAS' Hazardous Area Response Team.

A 47-year-old woman was eventually released from the car and treated at the scene for back and abdominal pain before being taken to Ealing Hospital.

A second woman in the car was also given treatment at the scene and taken to Ealing Hospital.

A third woman in the second car was checked at the scene but did not require hospital attention

All medical crews had departed by 11.45am but Windmill Lane is currently still closed and there is queuing traffic being reported southbound.

More updates as we get them.
