A woman was punched in the face on her doorstep then robbed of her jewellery in St John’s Wood.

The woman had driven onto her driveway in Acacia Road, leading up from the tube station, and parked her car on Wednesday (October 1) at 3.30pm, but when she got out and walked to her front door a man wearing a balaclava approached her and punched her in the face, causing her to fall down.

Another man then took hold of her and the pair started taking off her jewellery so, fearing for her safety, the woman gave them her handbag. They then ran into a silvery grey Range Rover and drove off.

Police are asking for help to find the two suspects. The first man is white, 25 to 30-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall while the other man is black, of the same age and was wearing dark clothing with a face covering which could be a balaclava.

DC Rod Austin, from Westminster Crime Squad, said: “This was a violent attack by two men on a lone female causing her to fear for her life.

“We are very keen to speak to anyone who may be able to assist us with this investigation and catch the people responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Austin on 0207 321 7527 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
