A WHITTON benefits cheat who failed to declare a £150,000 inheritance is due to be sentenced.

Carole Darling, of Collingwood Close, falsely claimed housing and council tax benefits totalling £6,500 despite the huge windfall.

The 65-year-old appeared at Richmond Magistrates' Court on September 3, when she admitted failing to notify about a change in circumstances. She is due to return to the same court for sentencing.

Her conviction is Richmond Council's 15th successful fraud prosecution this year.
