A woman died this afternoon after being hit by a lorry in Chelsea .

The pedestrian, whose age is currently unknown, was hit just before 2.30pm while crossing Edith Grove at the King’s Road junction.

London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived at the scene three minutes after they were called but she had already died.

A spokesman said: “We were called at 2.20pm to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Edith Grove and King’s Road.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene and arrived within three minutes. Sadly a woman was dead at the scene.”

Edith Grove is closed and long traffic queues have formed on Fulham Road and King’s Road in all directions.

Bus routes 11, 22, 328 and C3 have been diverted according to Transport for London who said the road is expected to be closed until this evening.
